I apologise . . .

Thank you for all the comments . . . and messages . . . regarding my Mrs Robinson post.

It seems I did not properly research my subject thoroughly enough (forgetting the first rule of marketing!!).

Yes, Mrs Robinson is apparently on record as making some very anti-homosexuality remarks . . . and as many of you have RIGHTLY pointed-out, there should be not be ANY sympathy for someone making such stupid, and unjust, and in-humane, comments.

My previous entry was NOT MEANT in any way to defend such comments, nor to defend her apparent abuse of her position to influence business contacts in regard to loans etc. etc.

Mistakes, we all make them (and I admit I made one in my lack of research), however those in public office SHOULD be expected to be much more prudent and circumspect in the way they conduct their affairs (no pun intended!!!).

Though I still feel sadness for her family, I will NOW get-down off MY OWN high-horse, and apologise for my lack of forethought, and retract my declarations of sympathy.

I could, of course, delete the previous post . . . but that would be tantamount to trying to destroy the evidence of my own errors of judgement (of which of course there have been many, but possibly few so public).

Humbly yours - Edith

Thank you for your retraction of support.
We shouldn't think we need to support
all women no matter their behavior.
Look at Sarah Palin!

Dear Edith,
I have re-read your original post and I do not think you need to be contrite or humble.
Comments in reply here, reveal that certain posters are stuck on much higher horses than you.
Your "Mrs Robinson" comments related specifically to a relationship that might understandably have got way out of control and have led to apparent wrongdoing; and these still stand.
New revelations surrounding the case are distinctly unpleasant, and may yet get worse, but your comments have not condoned that. So please don't feel so bad.
I am very much looking forward to hearing about your next adventure [weather permitting]. Or of any preparations you may be making for it.
With kindest regards
JZ

Hi Edith,

Whilst I agree with you that Iris Robinson's comments on homosexuality are completely unjust, undeserved and wrong I personally do no think this is relevant to the issues at hand:

a) She had an affair with a man NOT another woman so she is not being hypocritical in her stance on homosexuality - no matter how wrong that stance may be

b) Her stance on homosexuality has NOTHING to do with her actions/stance in regards to the issues about the loans that may (or may not) be in direct confilct with her duties as an MP

XOXO as always,

Wifey
